Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a self-directed, motivated individual with experience in the field of Neuro/oncology to be part of an established Neuro-Oncology team based at the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre providing services to the residents of the Surrey West Sussex and Hampshire and links with the Neurosurgical centre at St Georges Hospital.
This is also an exciting developmental opportunity for a less experienced band 6 nurse to work alongside our lead Neuro-oncology CNS, completing set objectives and competencies, leading to a band 7 CNS post. Consideration for a developmental CNS post will be considered.
Main duties of the job
Working as a key member of the Neuro-Oncology multidisciplinary team, you will take on the role of key worker, providing support from diagnosis and throughout treatment to both patients and their carers providing a patient focused service offering holistic assessment, specialist support and providing psychological support.
The post holder will be expected to support the Neuro-Oncology consultants and the existing Lead Neuro-Oncology CNS to contribute to the strategic direction and delivery of a quality service to patients with brain and CNS malignancies .You will also have the key responsibility for the coordination and organisation of the patient pathway throughout the disease trajectory. Work to enhance communication across both professional and organisational boundaries in order to ensure co-ordinated patient care.
You should be confident and self-motivated, with excellent influencing skills and, utilising the benefit of your clinical knowledge and experience, be able to act as a resource to all levels of healthcare professional and support staff.
