Safeguarding Children's Nurse - Women and Children's Directorate

Band 7 Role. 22.5 hrs pw. 1 years fixed term ending 6/10/26

We are recruiting to our Trust safeguarding team and require a band 7 Safeguarding Nurse to support Children's Safeguarding. The opportunity for a 1 year fixed term secondment has arisen in our team.

Working as part of the Trust Safeguarding team, the post holder will help provide an integrated, trust wide safeguarding service.

The post holder will be passionate about delivering training to staff throughout the trust and will develop a close working relationship with partner agencies.

The post holder will support the Safeguarding Team with achieving local and national performance targets and ensure that safeguarding requirements are met.

We are looking for a qualified nurse with an interest and knowledge in safeguarding children. The post holder will need to be a team player and have excellent communication skills.

They will need to work throughout the Trust and alongside our multiagency partners; meeting the needs of children, young people and families in our care.

The post hold will be part of a supportive team and there will be developmentopportunities

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a committed and expert practitioner working within the specialist safeguarding team. As part of the team they will be responsible for delivering a safeguarding service that ensures quality training, supervision, audit and expert advice to all trust staff.

The post holder will support the Named Nurse Safeguarding Children (Named Nurse) to ensure the trust meets its statutory responsibilities in safeguarding children. They will have a key role in developing and embedding safeguarding leadership and excellent professional practice within all sections of the organisation.

They will work as part of a specialist team to support the organisation in its quality assurance role, ensuring that identified safeguarding issues are managed effectively and support is provided appropriately. They will support the internal case review process.

  • Evidence of relevant post registration professional development.

Desirable

  • Safeguarding Supervision Training/ Qualification

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with a caseload that includes safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
  • Evidence of significant/relevant experience at a senior level in acute or community children's services acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience
  • Experience of developing and delivering safeguarding / educational training and be able to evaluate training.
  • Member of relevant professional body
  • Experience of delivering improvements on patient quality and safety
  • Sound working knowledge regarding the recognition and impact of abuse and neglect, capacity and consent
  • Understanding of national and local policy in relation to vulnerable adults / children and domestic abuse
  • Can demonstrate knowledge of audit and databases

  • Sound working knowledge of safeguarding and its application within an acute care setting
