Job summary

The Royal Surrey Hospital is currently looking to recruit a Locum Consultant Clinical Oncologist (for a fixed period of 12 months from September 2025) who have a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care and continuous professional development, and excellent communication and teamwork skills.

We are specifically looking for those with expertise and experience in HPB, Upper GI or Head & Neck Tumours - however all applications are welcome.

The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust hosts a leading regional Cancer Centre. The successful candidate will provide expertise in the management and treatment of patients . This includes offering Chemotherapy, systemic therapy, and Radiotherapy (including Stereotactic). This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic team providing exceptional cancer care in a modern, state-of-the-art facility.

Main duties of the job

Remit of the Consultant Post:

  • Work with colleagues to provide an excellent oncology service in your sub-specialty.
  • Offer Chemotherapy and systemic therapy expertise.
  • Participate in regular consultant ward cover sessions.
  • This remit requires a well-organised individual with good team-working skills and the ability to complete work within agreed timescales in cooperation with all staff groups and with support from senior colleagues.

Here at the Cancer Centre, we aim to provide first class, high quality care for all of our patients in a friendly and professional setting. Our services have received national recognition and praise and our patients benefit from the latest and most innovative treatments available, such as Stereotactic ablative radiotherapy, real-time adaptive radiotherapy, high dose rate brachytherapy, and a mobile community infusion suite.

We also deliver a full range of diagnostic nuclear medicine tests to both adult and paediatric patients, as well as providing a comprehensive Molecular Radiotherapy service (including I-131 for benign and malignant thyroid disease).
