Job summary
This Senior Clinical Fellow post would suit applicants with previous experience in critical care medicine and training in any acute specialty seeking to enhance this experience at a higher level of training.
Proficiency in anaesthesia/airway management is highly desirable.
The post is for six months in the first instance but may be extended.
This position is 50% clinical, 50% non-clinical. This post is suitable for senior trainees wishing to undertake an out-of-programme experience or those who have completed their training but desire additional experience prior to consultant appointment.
Main duties of the job
Clinical
The clinical commitment is based on the intensive care unit at Royal Surrey County Hospital and will include day-shifts, night-shifts and weekend shifts. There is excellent presence of senior cover - with consultants on site until 10pm every day and airway-trained colleagues readily at hand 24/7. The Unit is adjacent to the operating theatre suite.
Non-Clinical
Depending on the interests of the candidate we can accommodate projects either in clinical research or clinical informatics.
Research
We run clinical trials in acute medicine, critical care, and perioperative medicine. There are opportunities to gain training in research conduct, governance, ethics, as well as recruiting into studies.
