Assistant Specialty Manager

Job summary

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Specialty Manager on a temporary 6-month basis to cover maternity leave.

In this role, you will be working in a dynamic and fast-moving environment where no two days are the same. You will need to be confident working with a wide range of people across multiple professional groups and at all levels. The role requires someone who is hands-on, able to use their initiative, quick to learn new systems, and capable of directly line-managing administrative staff.

Main duties of the job

In conjunction with the Specialty Manager, take a leading role in providing day to day support to the SBU's Admin & Clerical staff and lead on the Doctors in Training rota planning.

Coordination of project work to support service transformation and development: Day-to-day management of all administrative and clerical services, including the planning of the Doctors in Training rota to make sure it remains compliant and cost effective as well as ensuring full service cover is in place. Working with the Specialty Manager to ensure that the strategic business unit service meets and achieves national performance indicators i.e. cancer waiting times, 18 weeks, all quality, activity and financial targets and indicators.
