The Royal Surrey Cancer Centre, Radiotherapy Department (Based at Redhill)
Location: Royal Surrey Cancer Centre located at East Surrey Hospital
Applications are invited to apply for the role of Radiotherapy Administration Assistant covering both reception and admin duties. The post holder will provide key support to patients attending the radiotherapy department based at East Surrey Hospital. This includes greeting patients on arrival, supporting the use of self-check-in and assisting with the navigation of the centre.
You will require excellent communication and organisational skills as you will be expected to liaise directly with patients and carers, hospital transport, as well as a number of other different professions, both within and external to the trust.
The successful candidate will need to be willing to learn and accept challenges and change, able to work in a team and be flexible with regard to cross cover and working hours. You will contribute to maintaining our high standards of patient care, communication, privacy and a safe environment in compliance with the Trust policies and procedures and data protection.
Previous administrative experience would be an advantage but is not essential as comprehensive Trust and local induction/training is available.
Main duties of the job
The purpose of this role is to provide a professional and efficient reception service for Royal Surrey Cancer Centre, to be a full member of the Administration team and to support the radiotherapy operations by undertaking administration tasks to the highest professional standards, working with Medical, Radiographic, Physics and other Administrative colleagues.

This is a key administrative role in the Radiotherapy Department, responsible for providing support across a range of administrative functions within the service. The post holder will be responsible for assisting patients and visitors to the centre by working on the reception desk and help support therapy radiographers with their admin needs. This will include completion of duties such as pulling notes for clinics, of filing treatment information in notes and ensuring notes are returned to medical records at the end of treatment in the correct manner. The post holder will be a good communicator and will use verbal and written communication skills with patients such as by preparing appointment letters.
The post holder will be expected to cross-cover other team members in their absence and to ensure colleagues are able to cover in their absence.
The post holder will participate in the Radiotherapy administrative teams wider service provision, including extended-day cover on a rotational basis.
The post holder will be required to work flexibly; by supporting the needs of the service and be aware that the radiotherapy service is open from 7am until 7pm, with the booking team being available from 8 am 5 pm. They will be aware that occasional work outside of these times and during weekends or public holidays will be required.

There are good travel links to and from Redhill and London and we are close to an area of outstanding natural beauty. Redhill is an up and coming area with a wide range of new developments in the town centre.
There is good inexpensive on-site staff car parking.
The job will be permanently based at Redhill however there will be rotation to the Guildford site as and when service demands or training requirements need to be met.
