Colposcopy & Admissions Administrator

We are looking for an organised and passionate Colposcopy and Admissions Administrator to join our busy Gynaecology department at Royal Surrey Hospital for a 12 month contract. This role will play a crucial part of ensuring patients are moving seamlessly through their patient pathway and receiving an excellent level of patient care.

This person will need to be organised, hardworking and passionate about provide outstanding patient care. An understanding of NHS processes, specifically colposcopy and theatres, would be a bonus.

Main duties of the job

The Colposcopy & Admissions Administrator will primarily work alongside the Colposcopy Coordinator and the Admissions Team providing care for women under Colposcopy care and/or having surgery under one of our Gynaecology Consultants.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good general standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent including English
  • RSA II or equivalent in word processing/audio typing
  • RSA III, Medical secretarial qualification (BSMS Certificate) or equivalent

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritise workload and to adapt effectively to changing priorities
  • Evidence of establishing and maintaining effective filing systems
  • Advanced keyboard and audio typing skills
  • Working knowledge of Word, email and internet
  • Working knowledge of a range of software packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, and locally used data bases
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology
  • Knowledge of NHS priorities and understanding of the guidelines and targets in own area of work (*)
  • Excellent spelling and grammar
  • Working knowledge of the Trust Patient Administration System (Cerner)
