Job summary

Applications are invited for a Senior Fellow in Complex Lower Limb Arthroplasty in Trauma and Orthopaedics at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, Guildford. The role is available to start 01st October 2025 for a fixed term of 12 months.

This job is a post CCT senior clinical fellowship though applicants who have passed the FRCS (T&O) exam but not yet achieved CCT (or CESR) may exceptionally also be considered.

The Complex Arthroplasty Fellow should experience all aspects of hip and knee arthroplasty with a focus on complex primary (including for metastatic disease) and revisions. The principal surgical contact will be Mr Kerry Acton FRCS but the Fellow will also work with other lower limb arthroplasty consultants.

The Job will provide advanced training in the breadth of Hip and Knee surgery including the management of complex revisions, periprosthetic fractures and metastatic oncology cases.

Main duties of the job

The Fellow will be expected to engage with research and publish data on relevant topics and will be expected to provide a report on the progress of such research projects at regular intervals during their post and before the end of their post.

The Fellowship is designed as post CCT training and as such is NOT recognised by the Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC) for Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in the UK.

The appointee will be given advanced training in the breadth of Hip and Knee arthroplasty including the management of complex revisions, periprosthetic fractures and metastatic oncology cases. They will have opportunities to carry out some clinical and operative work without direct supervision when the Trainers are satisfied with their experience.
