Job summary

We have a full time career-developing opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated dietitian to join our dietetic gastroenterology team. You will be a part of an award winning, proactive dietetic department at The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust in Guildford.

We are looking for somebody with experience in gastroenterology and an interest in eating disorders. We are looking for someone who is proactive and has the initiative to develop and / or improve the efficiency of a service.

You will join a forward thinking dietetic team which undertakes the training of A, B and C placement students, and also focuses on research and audit in its areas of activity to promote clinical effectiveness in patient care. This is an excellent opportunity in a supportive environment where you will be encouraged to develop both personally and professionally, with the chance to shadow and learn from the other specialist dietetic teams.

Main duties of the job

The caseload will be very varied and will work alongside the gastroenterology consultants. You will be involved in delivering education sessions to healthcare professionals and patients.

The post holder will be responsible for the nutrition and dietetic management of patients who have gastrointestinal conditions including functional bowel disorders (for example irritable bowel syndrome), inflammatory bowel disease and liver disease. This will include both oral and enteral nutrition support.

The post holder will be an integral part of the Gastro dietetic team, sharing responsibility for the smooth running of the dietetic gastroenterology service in line with Trust performance targets. They will provide specialist dietetic support to individuals in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc in Dietetics or equivalent and registration with HCPC
  • Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development

Desirable

  • Member of the British Dietetics Association
  • Membership of BDA specialist group such as the Gastroenterology Specialist group
  • FODMAP trained (Kings FODMAP course)
  • Driving licence

Knowledge

Essential

  • Post qualification experience including nutrition support and enteral feeding
  • Evidence of MDT work
  • Evidence of ability to manage complex clinical presentations

Desirable

  • Experience with managing patients with eating disorders
  • Experience of training/supporting others (including students) within specialist clinical area
  • Work in acute and community settings
