Job summary

As an autonomous practitioner to undertake a significant specialist clinical case load, taking a leading role in the advanced assessment, clinical diagnosis and treatment of elderly patients with conditions who require rehabilitation. These patients may present with a wide range of complex conditions.

To take a lead role alongside the Therapy service manager in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the physiotherapy service to the wards on a day to day basis

To provide an effective high quality service by adhering to local and national standards ensuring they are monitored and met.

To participate in the clinical governance of the organisation - including active involvement in audit and reporting.

To take a lead role in supervision and teaching of physiotherapists and other members of the multi - disciplinary team.

To demonstrate leadership skills and team management, contributing to service development by identifying areas for development and transformation within the therapy and MDT.

Main duties of the job

To oversee the physiotherapy team who provide physiotherapy to the inpatients at Milford Community Hospital.

To have professional responsibility for themselves and those they supervise. They will be expected to contribute to the on-going development of clinical practice, standards, research, as well as policies, protocols, guidelines and service development.

To provide clinical leadership to the therapists working at Milford inpatient wards.

To provide a supervisory role for more junior staff.

To ensure efficient time management of team to meet performance targets.

To support the team lead to develop annual plans for the inpatient therapy team, ensuring completion of objectives at year-end.

To support the team lead with new service developments and business plans providing evidence for the line manager.

To support the team lead to develop annual plans to incorporate National Guidelines for service i.e. NSF's and national guidelines.

Due to an internal secondment we have an opportunity for a clinical specialist physiotherapist to lead our dynamic physiotherapy team, working on the sub-acute ortho-geriatric and frailty wards at Milford Hospital. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, health care assistants, doctors, discharge co-ordinators and pharmacists.

In this role you will be expected to perform to a high clinical standard and to support a team of band 7, 6 and 5 physiotherapists and unregistered staff, and physiotherapy students on placement, as well as leading our service development. We work very closely with the occupational therapy team in the setting.

There will be opportunities to work closely with our local community services as the Trust welcomed these services, alongside Pro-Care, in April 2018.

Our services cover 7 days per week and the post holder may be expected to work regular weekends and bank holidays. Use of own car for business use is essential.

We are a friendly team of therapists who work together to provide a dynamic and pro-active service to our patients. We have a strong commitment to clinical supervision and continuing professional development; you will be regularly supervised by the team lead physiotherapist. You will be supported to engage in service development and encouraged to put forward suggestions as to how we can enhance and grow the services we offer. We offer:
