Senior Clinical Fellow in Regional Anaesthesia and Acute Pain

Job summary
One clinical fellow post is available from February 2025 for an initial six month period but may be extended by mutual agreement. Applicants should be ST 6-7 or post-CCT Anaesthetists with the FRCA (or equivalent) and have an interest in regional anaesthesia.
This post is aimed at a post-fellowship trainee with an established interest in regional anaesthesia, teaching and research. The Clinical Fellow will be encouraged to take part in clinical service development and in audit of current and developing clinical practice in conjunction with existing departmental audit setup. There will be opportunity for presentation at regional anaesthesia meetings and to teach on regional anaesthesia courses. Experience will be gained in acute pain management, including the application of relevant regional anaesthetic techniques, for example nerve sheath catheter techniques. The post-holder will be encouraged to take the ESRA Diploma of Regional Anaesthesia.
In addition to programmed time in theatre performing regional anaesthesia the post has a senior level of on-call clinical commitment which is primarily out of hours (night time and weekend) work. The role is to oversee and assist 2 trainees in the Intensive Care Unit, participating in handover rounds and pro-actively managing patients in the ICU, and to oversee and assist 2 anaesthetic trainees in theatres, labour ward and anywhere else in the hospital where senior level anaesthetic or critical care input is required.
