Job summary

The post holder will be required to provide a welcoming, professional and courteous service to patients and visitors who visit the Cranleigh Village Hospital. This customer facing role will be instrumental to the efficient running of Reception and Outpatient Services across the Trust.

Hours/ days of work are: Tuesday - 13.00 - 17.00 Wednesday - 08.30 - 17.00 Friday - 08.30 - 17.00

Main duties of the job

Post holders will be required to work Reception duties for the Outpatients Department at the Hospital, assisting patients and visitors with their enquires using a variety of communication methods such as face to face, telephone, e-mail, SMS etc. You will also have a medical records role in ensuring clinic notes are available and prepared in a timely manner. This will also include liaising with a variety of staff across the trust to ensure the smooth running of the clinics for the patients, clinicians and support departments.

An exciting opportunity to join the Outpatients Department at Cranleigh Village Hospital has arisen as they are looking for staff to work with our Reception and Medical Records Team as an Administrator.

Skills Required: - General Admin/Reception Experience - Good communication skills - both verbal & written - Good telephone manner - Professional and polite approach to patients and staff - Good keyboard/PC skills

Candidates should be mobile and able to move between departments. The position also requires some manual handling tasks.

  • GCSE Maths and English Grade A-C or equivalent

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent level of experience
  • Customer care qualification or attendance on a course

Knowledge & Experience

  • Knowledge of national and local targets associated to NHS organisations [E.g. waiting times, Two Week Waits, 18 weeks etc]
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Experience of using internet, Email, Word, Excel, processing, spreadsheets, and database packages

Desirable

  • Previous experience of dealing with the general public/customers
  • Previous experience in an administrative role
  • Knowledge and experience of using OASIS computer system
  • Experience of working in a customer service / reception role
  • Experience of dealing with complaints from customers effectively
