Job summary
The Royal Surrey County NHS Foundation Trust and are seeking to recruit an experienced Network Cyber Engineer
The Network Cyber Engineer role is a new position created in the IT Team. The role requires a security specialist within the designated Network specialism to help the Network Team and the Head of Cybersecurity to elevate security. This means improving security posture, reducing cyber risk, and improving security operations within the Network Team.
The role calls for a specialist Network resource within IT and as such will have, or will develop, technical or specialist excellence across their designated discipline and services that fall under the responsibility of the desktop infrastructure team.
The role will often have opportunities to work on project work and the adoption of new technologies in line with business requirements.
The role also requires flexible working by the organisation, including early start times and late finishes as required, to maintain appropriate coverage from 8am until 5pm.
Main duties of the job
This is a hands-on role and some of the core activities will include:
Asset Management (Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Circuits, Ingress/Egress points, Wireless etc)
Vulnerability Management
Risk Management
Patch Management
Security Controls identification and implementation (in conjunction with the Network and Cyber Lead).
Incident Response
Compliance (DSPT, CAF, etc)
Be a part of the IT/Cyber Engineering on-call rota

- Educated to Masters level OR equivalent, specialist knowledge acquired through relevant experience.
Desirable
- CCNA certification, or equivalent experience
- Certification in Firewall Administration or equivalent experience
- Wireless Security Certification or equivalent experience
- Security Certification: CISM, CISA, SSCP, or equivalent experience
Knowledge
Essential
- Experience of working in an enterprise network environment
- Responsibility for the delivery of a key service within a technical environment
- Experience in network cybersecurity, leading or active involvement in patch management, vulnerability management, network detection and response, risk management, and security controls implementation
- Strong interpersonal, reporting and communication skills
- Knowledge of IT concepts and systems
- Proven troubleshooting skills
- Experience of healthcare applications
- Experience of IT services
- Experience of liaising with clients, collating requirements and mapping them to business processes
- Working with Network Managed Service Providers
- The ability to work with multiple stakeholders to develop project plans and work streams with them.
