Job summary

The post holder is part of a multidisciplinary team that provides ultrasound services to the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department.

This is an exciting opportunity that includes a "Golden Hello" of £3,000 on joining the Obstetric Sonography team at Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust. Please see attached terms and conditions for more information.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for carrying out and reporting ultrasound procedures to a high standard and in a professional manner, working within the departmental guidelines whilst being accountable for their own actions.

Royal Surrey Foundation Trust Maternity service is rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. We provide antenatal care to approximately 2900 women a year and the sonography service is based within our antenatal clinic and dedicated early pregnancy unit on the ground floor of the trust. We are currently looking to recruit a highly motivated and professional sonographer to join our team. You are an integral part of the maternity care provision within the department and work closely with the Obstetric, midwifery and Gynaecology nursing teams to provide an exceptional level of antenatal care.

You will work alongside the Antenatal Screening team and two dedicated fetal medicine consultants to deliver the Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme and achieve all Key Performance Indicators within your practice.

Support will be given with professional development and there is opportunity to support ongoing improvement in practice and service delivery working collaboratively with the senior team, you would be supported to develop the work as part of the trust Quality Improvement processes.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Hold an appropriate professional qualification recognised by college of radiographers- D.C.R or BSc in Diagnostic radiography(3 year F/T degree)
  • Registered Midwife with DMU or PgC in Obstetric and Gynaecological Ultrasound (1year)
  • Registered with HPC (Health Professionals Council)
  • Portfolio with evidence of C.P.D

Desirable

  • PgD or MSc in Clinical Ultrasound
  • Current FMF license

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Attendance at specialist short courses/seminars
  • Substantive experience post certificate (PgC) or equivalent qualification
  • Teaching and assessing students
  • Knowledge of electronic ultrasound reporting system. e.g Viewpoint
  • Research methodology. Has undertaken clinical audits & acted on findings
  • Evidence of support with Protocol development to support clinical practice
  • Quality control experience to include: Adverse Incident & Risk management/clinical governance reporting Knowledge of key performance indicators within ultrasound
