Job summary
Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to lead the MRI Service. This role will be suitable for someone who is looking for a new challenge as MRI Manager and has a proven interest in managing an MRI service, teaching, and clinical governance and radiation protection.
The purpose of the job is to ensure the smooth running of MRI imaging modality, and to assist the Head of Service / Professional Lead for Radiology with the strategic management of these areas. To be a key player in promoting communication and teamwork between the various areas in radiology, and to liaise with patients, their relatives and staff throughout the Trust and external agencies to in order to provide an effective and efficient patient focused service. The post holder will be the lead named MHRA lead for Radiology. The job includes a proportion of clinical duties as well as managerial responsibilities.

Main duties of the job
- To ensure a high quality, smooth running cost effective service through effective management of staff and facilities.
- Provide professional leadership to the imaging modalities to ensure the delivery of an effective & responsive radiology service.
- Manage the monthly activity, assisting the Head of Service / Professional Lead for Radiology with capacity and demand in line with service delivery requirements
- Manage the team to ensure the training, development and appraisals of staff are completed and support an ethos of lifelong learning and professional development.
- Be responsible for the line management of staff according to the departmental organisational chart. Monitor the on-going staffing requirements & manage staff and resources accordingly
- Be responsible for staff well- being & reallocation of personnel in response to absences/ increased demand, to ensure all areas can function effectively & efficiently.
- Encourage the highest professional & technical standards in all staff using personal example & constructive supervision.
- To work clinically when necessary to help contribute to the smooth running of the department, provide general and specialised examinations.
- Promote excellent working relations with staff across the Trust.
- Deputise for the Head of Service / Professional Lead for Radiology as required

- DCR or BSC in Diagnostic Radiography
- Registered HPC
- Portfolio with evidence of CPD
