An exciting opportunity has arisen for a physiotherapist or nurse with excellent people and organisational skills to join our busy sleep, oxygen and home ventilation team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Physio/ Nurse with previous experience in treating patients with chronic respiratory disease/neuromuscular disease including managing patients on non-invasive ventilation and oxygen therapy. Knowledge of sleep disordered breathing will be an advantage.
Our ideal candidate will have completed respiratory rotations, significant band 6 NHS experience and have general respiratory experience in an acute setting.
Interviews are preferred face to face but a remote option is available if needed.
Main duties of the job
Our team provide the sleep and home non-invasive ventilation service at Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, and in two of our community hospitals across Guildford and Waverley. We also provide respiratory assessment, advice and support to patients with neuromuscular disease, musculoskeletal problems and obesity hypoventilation.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn new diagnostic skills (e.g. sleep studies, Blood gases) and will be supported to increase their knowledge and skills in this field

To assist consultant physiotherapist in providing the sleep, home non-invasive ventilation and ambulatory oxygen service. Provide advice and support to community services and to patients in their own homes. Provide support to acute respiratory MDT and liaise with the MDT across the hospital when patients requiring assessment and ongoing management by sleep team are admitted.
- To work in an advanced clinical position working in the sleep clinics and home NIV service as part of the consultants team.
- Responsible for the assessment, referral for investigation, treatment and triage to consultants if required.
- To work as required with ambulatory oxygen service.
- Follow up/assessment of NIV/CPAP patients in their own home including monitoring of patients with deteriorating neuromuscular disease
- Support the multi professional community teams providing advice, teaching and joint home visits as required.
- To work from a number of community sites independently- including Cranleigh village hospital and Haslemere district hospital.
- Provide support to junior members of the team
- Provide support to wards across the hospital when patients are admitted with CPAP or NIV
- Provide support to admitting teams and MPT on Albury when NIV patients are admitted to hospital
- Provide advice to medical team and support to MDT for patients being weaned onto Home NIV
