Job summary

The DCSS Division is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Division to lead the Radiology services at the Royal Surrey Hospital.

You will be required to have excellent communication and team working skills to drive engagement across multiple teams and deliver good performance within services. You will provide the professional leadership to the Radiography staff within the Trust in collaboration with the Clinical Director for Radiology.

This role will provide expert professional, clinical and strategic leadership of the Radiology Service, including its radiography, sonography and clinical support workforce, across the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust acute and community sites.

The service provides the full range of radiology modalities across the estate, including Interventional Radiology (IR). It operates out of 4 fixed locations, and additionally, provides remote imaging support in theatres, endoscopy, wards and day surgery units. Diagnostic Imaging and IR support is provided 24 hours per day 365 days per year. We support a wide range of Clinical Specialists, providing emergency and general hospital services to a population of more than 330,000 across south west Surrey. We are also support St Luke's, our specialist tertiary Cancer Centre, which offers state of the art diagnostic and treatment services to a population of up to two million patients.

Main duties of the job

The role will also involve engagement with key external stakeholders, including Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance, commissioners and regulators. A key role will be the implementation of our new Community Diagnostic Centre which is due to open in 24/25.

Reporting operationally to the Associate Director of Operations for DCSS division, you will work collaboratively with the wider leadership team, internal and external stakeholder groups to deliver outstanding levels of diagnostic imaging service at all sites, with a high emphasis on patient safety, high quality care and excellent staff experience. The post holder will be accountable for the delivery of imaging services which conform to professional standards, meet clinical governance compliance requirements, and national performance KPI targets.

You would be responsible for overseeing the operational, financial, workforce and strategic direction of their service and teams, contributing to and ensuring that these are in line with the overarching Directorate and Trust strategy. In addition, you will lead on providing technical clinical imaging advice and expertise to Trust stakeholders undertaking strategic, capital land business planning, the design of new installations and equipment procurement, installation, testing and acceptance.
