Job summary
This post is full time, and will comprise of direct clinical care to support the delivery of Cancer services by our Consultant body and provide support to members of the Oncology team in the medical care of Oncology patients at the Royal Surrey Hospital and related tertiary centres.
This remit will require a well-organised individual with good team-working skills and the ability to complete work within agreed timescales in co-operation with all staff groups and with support from senior colleagues.
The role will require good MDT working within Oncology, as well as with the wider trust to ensure the oncology patients receive a high quality of medical care.
Although this is not a deanery-approved training post, continuing professional development is encouraged and support for studying will be given to the post holder. Appropriate Educational and Clinical Supervision will be arranged and individual training needs of the post holder are taken into account in the job plans.
Main duties of the job
In-patient care and ward rounds with consultants (depending upon experience)
Day case chemotherapy clinics
Supporting the chemotherapy day unit
Supporting the research nurses
Out-patient clinics at in Oncology and in the peripheral clinics where appropriate
Participating in the Acute Oncology day cover rota
Cover for Specialist Registrars when they are absent on annual or study leave
Covering other absences within firms (depending upon experience)
