Job summary

This post is a Fellowship in the Ophthalmology Department at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, under the supervision of Mr Chris McLean. The department has seven consultants with subspecialty expertise in strabismus, cornea, medical retina and uveitis, glaucoma, surgical retina and oculoplastics. The goal of fellowship training in oculoplastic surgery is to complement the basic knowledge gained in core specialty training in ophthalmology and to provide greater exposure to the diagnosis, management, and surgical correction of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive disorders.

This is a Full Time Post. The timetable includes two operating theatre sessions with Mr Mclean and a minimum of one minor procedures operating list. There are two oculoplastic clinics, with flexibility to attend a clinic / operating list in the Maxillofacial department at the Royal Surrey

Main duties of the job

To support the Ophthalmology Lead and coordinate the general management of the Ophthalmology patients through the hospital.

This is a post for an Oculoplastic Fellowship in Ophthalmology. The appointee will gain skills in the management of Oculoplastic Ophthalmology patients, as well as exposure to subspecialty glaucoma, general and retina clinics as well as cataract surgery.

  • Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice.

Desirable

  • Part 1 MRCOphth or FRCOphth.
  • MBBS or equivalent.
  • Higher degree.
