Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Sonographer with additional Musculoskeletal experience to join our hardworking, friendly team. We have a varied musculoskeletal case mix so experience and competency in a full range of MSK ultrasound is required.A recognised ultrasound qualification DMU or PgC/PgDip in medical ultrasound in addition to a under graduate medical based /Allied Health degree and valid HCPC or professional registration is essential. In addition, a postgraduate qualification in the principles and practice of joint and soft tissue injection is essential for this post.
You would be expected to act as an autonomous practitioner whilst maintaining a close working relationship with MSK Consultant Radiologist and key referring clinicians to develop an innovative and leading edge MSK Ultrasound service.You will support the effective planning, development, organisation and delivery of MSK ultrasound training for sonographers and medical staff working collaboratively with the MSK Consultant Radiologist; to provide highly specialist, expert clinical MSK ultrasound knowledge.
You will provide clinical leadership in MSK ultrasound practice and develop sonographer sub-specialisation in order to facilitate an effective high quality and evidence based service to enhance patient care.
Working with the Ultrasound Manager and Consultant radiologist to facilitate MSK ultrasound based clinical research/audit and initiate/implement evidence based practice
Main duties of the job
The role involves a high proportion of complex interventional procedures under ultrasound guidance. You will be working with the orthopaedic consultants in supporting and helping to develop one stop clinics to provide efficient patient focused services.
Our scanning rooms are well appointed and ergonomically friendly. All our ultrasound rooms are equipped with recently purchased GE LOGIQ 10 R3ultrasound machines .The Royal Surrey County Hospital is a progressive and collaborative hospital dedicated to patient care. We are a 570 bedded modern acute hospital situated in the historical town of Guildford. The Trust provides a comprehensive service, with national referrals to several of its specialities. We form one of the four cancer units which make up the Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire Cancer Network. You would be expected to work at our Community sites at Cranleigh Village Hospital and Haslemere District Hospital and Milford Community Hospital .
