Job summary
The jobs consist of 4-month training rotations. Examples are shown below (these may be subject
to change):
Rotation 1: Geriatrics> ENT> Surgery
Rotation 2: Oncology (4 months only)
Rotation 3: Oncology (4 months only)
For FY2 doctors these rotations will ensure you have fully
accredited United Kingdom training to proceed to speciality applications.

Study leave (12 days in total) to attend courses
or have tasters in different specialities

Health and well-being lead to support junior
doctors in training.
Main duties of the job
The role aims to build upon skills and
knowledge gained at foundation level 1 and develop these further to help
prepare the trainee to enter further core or specialty training. The key skills
developed by the role are:
- Enhanced clinical skills, especially in the
assessment and management of acutely ill patients.
- Developing skills for managing patients on the
ward and following them through their clinical pathways
- Development and extension of surgical skills
- Developing communication skills with patients,
carers and staff members working within multi-disciplinary teams and with primary
care
- Further develop a knowledge of hospital systems
and clinical governance, understanding the importance of keeping
accurate records
- Developing presentation skills
- Improve competencies in data analysis
- Provide opportunities for research, audit and
service improvement
- Give further exposure and training in general surgery
before commencement of specialty training through assistance in outpatients and
theatres

month Foundation year 2 trust practitioner rotational posts at the Royal Surrey
NHS Foundation Trust. These posts mirror and provide identical educational
experience to deanery approved training posts. They consist of three x 4 month

ED). On completion trainees will have certification to be eligible to apply for
specialist training in the United Kingdom.

registration and prior foundation year one experience. Foundation year one
