Job summary
Do you have a passion for clinical education and developing your teaching skills? Are you interested in influencing the development of our new doctors? A 6 month fixed term opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Educator (AFC: Band 6) in Old Age Psychiatry at Kingsway site.
The Derby Psychiatry Teaching Unit (PTU) provides clinical placements to 4th year medical students from the University of Nottingham who are completing their psychiatry module in Derby.
Main duties of the job
Our ethos is to provide excellence, compassion and experiential learning in Medical Education. To do this we have developed a number of innovative interactive teaching approaches to help engage students and better develop their skills in working with people experiencing mental ill health.
You will be directly involved in teaching Undergraduate Medical students all aspects of Old Age Psychiatry.
There is a particular emphasis in utilising Lived Experience in medical education and part of your role will be to participate in this.
We are currently seeking someone skilled and experienced to cover long term sickness, however there may be a possibility that the post could become permanent in the future. As such, we are seeking mental health nurses with minimum of 3 years' post registration experience. Applicants must be enthusiastic, motivated and interested in developing face to face 'bedside' teaching with service receivers and carers, ensuring that respect and consideration for the needs of both students and service receivers is prioritised.
The role may involve pastoral support for students, as they often experience triggering, due to the sensitive nature of the subject matter discussed, or witnessing distressing incidents.
