As this is a short term post start date will ideally be start of July 2025.

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen in the People Services Directorate for a Pastoral Support Officer to support the recruitment, onboarding and integration of our internationally recruited Doctors into their roles at Derbyshire Healthcare and their new life in the UK.

Educated to diploma in relevant subjectorequivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in administration roles, you will have a passion for helping people and will bring an ability to work on your own initiative and organise your own workload with minimal supervision working to tight and often changing timescales.

Although the base for this is Kingsway Hospital, Derby you will have flexibility to work at home at times, a lot of your time will be spent supporting the Trust's new overseas Doctors at their bases across Derbyshire. Initially you will be required to support at their induction base in Crewe for their first two weeks when arriving in the UK. You will also be expected to travel for training .

This role is suitable for a secondment - please seek approval from your line manager before making a secondment application.

Main duties of the job

As Pastoral Support Officer your main objective will be to enhance the experience of international staff joining the Trust and ensure they receive a smooth transition into the Trust, NHS and United Kingdom. This will mean:

  • Work closely with the People and Inclusion team, People Services Recruitment team, Practice Facilitator for International Recruitment and other key stakeholders to coordinate and provide on-boarding support for international staff commencing employment with the Trust.
  • Work with key stakeholders, both within and external to the Trust, to identify and develop sustainable support networks, which will enhance the experience of international staff joining the organisation.
  • To be the main point of contact throughout the onboarding and arrival schedules of internationally recruited staff.
  • Ensure welcome packs are designed, updated and available in each of the properties, or delivered to the accommodation where appropriate.
  • Ensure the international recruit has access to IT equipment, arranging for the delivery of a Trust tablet/laptop where appropriate.
  • Be the link between Doctors and their clinical teams for all pastoral matters

  • Arranging and booking accommodation prior to the arrival of the staff.
