Nursing Assistant (Inpatient Mental Health Rehabilitation)

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Inpatient Mental Health Rehabilitation Team and be part of an exciting team.

We are a 23 bedded rehabilitation unit consisting of 5 bungalows with the aim of supporting male and female patients with enduring and complex mental illness back towards living independently in the community and helping to reduce future admissions.

We are currently seeking compassionate, enthusiastic, and motivated Band 3 Nursing Assistants to join our friendly and dedicated team. You will be fully supported and provided with learning and training opportunities.

This position will cover early, mid and late shifts across seven days.

Individuals should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and possess a willingness to take on new challenge.

NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification is an essential requirement for this post.

Main duties of the job

Previous experience of working with mental health patients would be advantageous, we are also interested in hearing from individuals who have a special talent for being caring and compassionate and who would be able to go the extra mile to help our patients feel valued and cared for and at all times to treat them with dignity and respect.

As post holder, duties will include:

To work with all members of the clinical team within the multi-disciplinary framework.

To maintain a high standard of patient care under the direction of the nurse in charge.

To provide high standards of patient care to all patients.

To complete physical observations for patients and report back to nurse in charge.

Understanding the importance of maintaining confidentiality all the time.

Able to communicate effectively with patients and relatives.

To work in accordance with the principles laid down by the Nursing/Midwifery professional bodies and Trust Policies.

Understanding the importance of infection control.

Good computer literacy.

Understanding the importance of health promotion.

Demonstrate the importance of understanding dignity and privacy.

To fulfil the role of co-worker under the supervision of a qualified nurse/clinician.

To deliver planned care to service users identified by the nominated professional/ nurse in charge.

Assist qualified staff in the physical monitoring of a patient's health, including monitoring of blood pressure, pulse , temperature, respiration, weight, drug and alcohol screening ( after appropriate training).

Assist senior staff in the planning and delivery of therapeutic and social activities for patients in the clinical area.

To participate, where appropriate, in the initial assessment of the service user's problems, planning, implementation and evaluation of interventions, as required, ensuring that the service users physical, psychological and social needs are taken into account at all times.

To deliver effective individualised care in response to service user's needs under the supervision of the nominated professional, providing a range of supportive interventions.

To ensure clear and concise documentation of individual service user care in all service user's files and that these are stored according to local policy.

Observe and report changes in the service user's physical condition or mental health to the nominated professional.
