Job summary

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and committed engagement worker to join the CAMHS Day Service.

The specialist day provision is a relatively new part of the CAMHS service, opening its doors in October 2022, and provides intensive packages of person centred intervention to young people who may be at risk of admission to a Tier 4 inpatient unit without increased support. The successful applicant will work as part of a team to help manage complex mental health needs. You will be involved in the assessment, formulation and interventions offered working directly with children and young people, and the agencies and networks around them.

You will be part of the regular team clinical supervision processes as well as being able to access regular and frequent individual supervision.

There is a lot of scope for personal and professional development within the service.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for Engagement workers who will improve children and young people's mental health, providing support and intervention to young people and families as part of their care plan.

This will involve working with children and young people who are experiencing high levels of distress and during periods of crisis.

The role will also involve interventions to support recovery and relapse prevention. In accordance with national and local priorities, clinical guidelines, You will be responsive to the needs and views of local children, to ensure the highest level of evidence-based practice within the resources available.

Main responsibilities will include developing therapeutic relationships with young people and their carers throughout their time in the eating disorder service in order to provide enhanced support, interventions to aid wellbeing and recovery and in regaining usual roles and quality of life.

Within this team you will be expected to assist in identifying and meeting the needs of children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties. Intervention will provide a recovery focused approach that enhances the skills and personal development of children young people.

Ability to offer flexible working and travel to a range of locations is required.
