Job summary

The post holder will work within a 24-hour service under the supervision of qualified nurses.

The main aspects of the role are to provide effective, high-quality, person-centred care to service users within the older peoples care division with a functional mental health diagnosis.

The post holder will be actively involved in the delivery of direct patient care and in ensuring that patients' physical, psychological and emotional needs are met in a way that promotes independence and well being.

Main duties of the job

  • Obtain basic personal information from the service user, as required at the time of admission to the service.
  • Ensure that the service user is orientated to the clinical environment.
  • To complete personal care for service users.
  • Help diffuse situations where there is behaviour that challenges using the correct de-escalation and physical intervention techniques appropriate to the client group.
  • Provide ongoing support to the service users and their carers.
  • Contribute to maintaining the safety of service users through careful observation of both individuals and the environment in which they are being cared for, in accordance with Health and Safety at Work Policies and Procedures.
