The East Midlands Gambling Harms Service welcomes applications for a Band 5 Assistant Psychologist.
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a new psychologically informed service for people experiencing gambling harms who may also present with additional mental health needs or other co-morbidities.
The role will support and enhance the professional care of service users receiving support from the multidisciplinary team working within the East Midlands Gambling Harms service, a service provided by Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation NHS Trust.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate individual who can show initiative and is confident working both independently and within a team.
The successful candidate must have already obtained a UK university honours degree in psychology graded at 2:1/1 or an equivalent qualification, conferring the BPS approved graduate basis for registration.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join a team of passionate and experienced Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Mental Health Practitioners and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapists; assisting treatment protocols for the service.
The post holder will support the team in providing a trauma informed service, which includes:
- The running of groups (preparation sessions).
- Co-facilitating other treatment groups where required
- Individual stabilization work where required.
- Supporting the team with initial assessments where required.
- Undertaking projects relating to service development and evaluation focussing on the outcomes of the team's clinical work.
- Supporting literature reviews and evidence based practice where required.
- Designing and managing databases, spreadsheets and using advanced IT skills in evaluations and audits.
- Liaising with 3rd sector organisations to assist the service in its co-production, including running focus group with service users.
- Assisting service promotion where required.
About us
The East Midlands Gambling Harms Service is a well supported multidisciplinary team that sits within DHCFT specialist services. The post holder will also be part of the Psychological Therapies Division which facilitates regular specialized supervision and training, leads on the development of trauma informed practice, encourages personal and professional development, and has good links with the regional training courses.
The Trust is incredibly supportive of their work force and go above and beyond to ensure staff are being looked after and feel supported.
It is Trust policy that for posts that are for a time limited period, applicants who are currently employed by an NHS organisation will only be appointed on a secondment basis and should have approval from their line manager this is possible before applying. Applicants who are not employed by an NHS organisation, will receive a fixed term contract.
