Job summary
Our friendly and dynamic team of paediatric Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists is seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join us in our team. As well as working alongside therapy staff you will be part of a wider team including teachers and nurses.
The successful applicant will be required to travel to homes and schools across Derby City and districts of Derbyshire.
We operate flexible working arrangements within the core hours of Monday - Friday. A full induction to the Trust and to the service is provided. During your time with us regular supervision is available and personal development will be encouraged through internal and external training opportunities. You will develop valuable skills which will enable you to progress your career in paediatrics or other related specialities within Occupational Therapy.
A mobile phone, laptop and full IT training will be available. Access to a vehicle is essential to this post due to the requirements for regular travel and candidates must be able to meet the travel requirements of the post. Allowances are payable.

Main duties of the job
The role will entail providing an Occupational Therapy service within the specialist area of Children and Young People's practice. This will involve working alongside other professionals and gaining a broad width of experience in assessment and standardised tests, seating, equipment in the home and school, hand splints and different treatment approaches; all transferable skills as your career progresses. You will work alongside experienced qualified staff whilst carrying your own caseload working towards being an autonomous practitioner and managing an assigned caseload of work with children 0-18 years old. This will include neurological conditions, Cerebral Palsy, orthopaedic, developmental delays and learning disabilities, and life limiting conditions (some conditions will be congenital others acquired often multiple pathology).
Children seen will range from mild developmental problems to profound, complex disability. The post-holder will assess and treat children in the areas of gross and fine motor skills including handwriting and IT advice, visual perceptual skills, sensory processing advice, moving and handling, environmental and access issues, daily living and independence skills. In service training and team support is embedded in our practice.
