Job summary

Are you either a qualified Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, looking to apply your expertise in a community mental health setting?

Or

Do you have a core mental health profession (RMN, OT, Social Work, Art Therapy, Psychology) and are either:

a) currently undertaking a training in Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy,

or

b) have the required passion and commitment to train as a Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with a UKCP or BPC training organisation?

The successful candidate would work as part of the Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Service, based in the north of Derbyshire and would provide consultation, assessment and individual psychotherapy treatment to a range of individuals with often complex mental health difficulties.

Main duties of the job

Whether the post-holder meets the requirements to be employed as a Band 8a Senior Psychotherapist or a Band 7 Psychological Therapist (Training Post), they will work within the the Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Service North which is based across Bakewell and Chesterfield .

The main purpose of this role is to develop the role of psychodynamic psychotherapy and expand its scope across the north of the county.

Passion for psychoanalytic work is essential.

We are a supportive department with a strong commitment to continuing professional development and training.

The service has been in operation for over 40 years. We have a rich history of offering group and individual psychotherapy, a Therapeutic Community approach for people with severe and complex presentations and an educational setting for the training of psychotherapists.

The department has links to various training organisations such as South Trent, the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust, and local Clinical Psychology doctorate courses.

Where appropriate, there may be opportunities for leading seminars, supervising trainees and other educational involvement.

We encourage flexible working and combined working from home and base.

The service's main base is in Derby,however this post is part of the services provision in the North of Derbyshire.

Bakewell is easily accessible from Derby, Chesterfield and Sheffield and has good public transport bus links to Derby and Buxton.

Chesterfield has a main line train station with frequent connections to Sheffield and Derby.

Relocation expenses may be available to successful candidates wishing to move to the region.

Qualified Post (Band 8a):
