Job summary

You will be part of Derbyshire Heathcare's Health Protection Unit.

You will support the delivery of the Trust's Infection Prevention and Control policy, which will include assisting pressure ulcer prevention, data collection and usage, and proactive project work.

The post holder will support the delivery of COVID-19 and Flu vaccination programmes and public health initiatives as and when they arise.

You will contribute to protecting the health and wellbeing of service users and colleagues at DHCFT through varying health promotion initiatives.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • Be responsible for establishing operational and clinical service mechanisms that support the delivery of quality health protection and promotion services, including vaccination programmes, health promotion initiatives, and infection prevention and control (IPC) across DHCFT
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, key partners and those within the local community to develop services to support the mental health and physical health needs of the community.
  • Demonstrate up-to-date evidence-based knowledge and understanding of a variety of health protection and health promotion services, disseminating to DHCFT staff and patients where appropriate.
  • Assist in developing and reviewing specialist HPU and IPC Standard operating procedures for vaccination clinics and health promotion interventions to promote and maintain the highest evidenced IPC standards.
  • Inform and demonstrate quality improvement within the Trust, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and education to increase awareness of infection prevention and control, tissue viability, public health initiatives (eg tobacco harm reduction) and vaccination amongst all disciplines and grades of staff within the Trust and community
  • Adhere to and provide guidance and direction to colleagues in regard to care planning and recording standards linked to advice given by the team.
  • Deputise for the clinical lead when required.

The post holder will:

  • Be a professional role model for the delivery of high-quality nursing care.
