Job summary

This is a fixed term/secondment opportunity to cover maternity leave.

The Transforming Care Programme (TCP) Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) support function is expected to contribute to the delivery of the following local outcomes:

  • Reduction in the number of children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and mental disorders with behaviour which challenges, which require inpatient facilities.
  • Reduction in the length of stay for individuals for individuals with ASD within tier 4 patent setting inpatient setting.
  • Improved support to mainstream Child and Adolescents Mental Health services and children's care services to improve understanding and skills in ASD support and management.
  • A reduction in the behaviours of children and young people with mental disorders and autism that lead to them coming into contact. with the criminal justice system and improved support to children and young people with ASD through the criminal justice system.

It is expected that Transforming Care Programme Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) support function will work alongside the Urgent Care Pathway, with a role in support of core CAMHS services to achieve the above outcomes for children and young people with ASD within the Transforming Care Programme across South Derbyshire and Derby City.

Main duties of the job

  • Provision of support, supervision and training for urgent care services supporting those individuals to increase and sustain 'capable environments' within local community.
  • Provision of skills and understanding of autistic spectrum conditions, clinical presentations, comorbidities and adaptations required to support effective delivery of clinical interventions.
  • Provision of high expertise in the use of Positive and Safe practices, including principles and techniques of positive behavioural support (PBS).
  • Ensure that clinical approaches are adapted to take into account any person's limitations with communication, organisational skills, sensory needs and/or comprehension as a consequence of ASD.
  • Support the development of skills and expertise to ensure co-design, development of delivery of individualised and person centred treatment and support plans.
  • Attendance at CETR for children and young people who are at risk of admission to ensure high quality person centred care planning.
  • Promote and support the use of personal budgets to provide person centred care and independence.
  • Oversight of any young person in the care cohort who is admitted to an inpatient facility.
  • Provide specific clinical supervision to colleagues supporting /care coordinating young people in this care cohort.
  • Consultancy and advice to system partners ensure that understanding of ASD presentation is taken into account when care planning.
