An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team on the Haematology and Oncology day unit at Blackpool Teaching Hospital.
We are a specialist unit that provides treatment to patients that suffer with cancer or any haematological malignancies. The type of treatments involve intensive chemotherapy, blood products support , treatment and management of neutropenic sepsis or other side effects related to administration of cytotoxic drugs. We also provide the holistic management of these patients , and proceed with the adequate support and triage of symptoms.
As a nurse working within the unit , you will develop your skills and competencies that allows you to provide the required support toward patients.
We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse who can work dynamically and at a fast pace to ensure safe and effective care delivery. As well as , someone that shows a caring attitude, respectful and keeps patients safety as a priority at all times.
The successful candidates will require a clear vision on quality care delivery and to be committed towards helping to develop and improve the Haematology and Oncology service.
Main duties of the job
- Managing patient's holistically within the cancer department
- Recognise and treat neutropenic sepsis
- Administer medicines including chemotherapy
- Central line care management
- Management of patients following transplant
- Identifying quality improvements
- Being dynamic and pro- active towards own training and development
