Job summary

To work within a multidisciplinary team offering full comprehensive assessments and intervention in a range of settings and evaluate the care to children, young people and their families including those with a Learning Disability in line with local and national guidelines.

To provide regular and on-going consultation, joint work, training, and advice to multi agency staff in relation to children and young people who have a Learning Disability

Main duties of the job

To provide full clinical assessments of children, young people and their families referred to the CYP Learning Disability Team in a variety of settings and situations.

To manage the assessment and ongoing direct support & interventions of children, young people who have a Learning Disability of moderate to severe. with may coexisting with other ongoing needs. This will include regular liaison and collaborative working with other agencies i.e., social services and education

Job description

Job responsibilities

To share knowledge and skills with Options 4 CYP colleagues to identify and facilitate therapeutic interventions to enable them to work with children and young people with learning disabilities and mental health needs on their individual caseloads.

To work closely with other agency staff and provide regular professional consultation, training, and advice to identify and address the mental health needs of children and young people as early as possible.

To understand and work within Child Protection protocols and guidelines.

To regularly raise awareness and promote neurodiversity and wellbeing of children and young people within the wider community.

To collaborate with the statutory and none- statutory agencies e.g., Social Services Education, private and voluntary sector to promote a network of services providing help and support to children, young people parents and their carers. i.e., take a lead in participating in the Complex Difficulties Panel and other appropriate forums.

To participate in and provided training and supervision to other team members.

To maintain a high standard of record keeping and reports.

Participate in clinical governance programs within the CYP Learning disability and Neurodiversity Team.

To evaluate the effectiveness of assessment and treatment whilst responding to the changing needs of the clients and the service.

To attend and participate in regular clinical and managerial supervision within the multidisciplinary team.

Education & Qualification

Essential

  • Clinical qualification to degree level or equivalent
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • State registration with the NMC/HCPC

Experience & Knowledge

  • Minimum 3 years post registration 1 which are in a community mental health setting.
  • Experience of working across learning disability services
  • Experience of working across neuro services
  • Problem solving
