Parent Infant Therapist

Job summary

As a key member of the Blackpool Parent-Infant Relationship Service, you will deliver specialist parent-infant relationship support within a hub-and-spoke model. The role focuses on working with pregnant parents and caregivers of children aged 0-2, and providing therapeutic interventions for families with children up to age 5.

You will collaborate with early years services and health teams to ensure timely support for families where nurturing relationships are at risk.

The service is based at Kirkham Clinic, and your spoke base will be either in an area of Hyndburn or Blackburn with Darwen (confirmed upon appointment). Travel for meetings and service delivery will be required.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by strengthening parent-infant relationships and improving outcomes for families across Lancashire and South Cumbria.

Main duties of the job

Core responsibilities include:

  • Parent-infant relationship assessments, formulation, and therapeutic interventions for parents, infants, and families.
  • Offering Video Interaction Guidance (VIG) as part of a suite of evidence-based interventions.
  • Training and consultation for professionals across the multi-agency network.
  • Contributing to strategic development and early intervention initiatives for high-risk and vulnerable families.

We are looking for parent infant therapists who have the expertise, drive and commitment to keep the voice of the infant at the heart of early years provision and provide specialist parent-infant relationship support. This is an opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary team led by a Clinical Consultant Psychologist, working collaboratively with local professionals to strengthen the bond between parents and their babies during the crucial early stages of life.
