Job summary
The Mechanical Estates Officer will be responsible for the effective management, maintenance, and compliance of all mechanical building services across Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This includes heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), hot and cold water systems, medical gases, drainage, and other associated plant and equipment. The role involves providing technical expertise, ensuring statutory compliance (including HTM and HBN guidance), managing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance, and delivering high-quality estates support to clinical and non-clinical services.
Main duties of the job
Manage, plan, and supervise mechanical maintenance and installation works across the Trust estate.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, HTM/HTM 03, HSE guidance, Water Safety, Legionella (ACoP L8), and other NHS-specific standards.
- Act as Authorised Person (AP) or Responsible Person (RP) in designated specialist areas.
- Carry out site inspections, audits, and condition surveys of mechanical plant and equipment.
