Our NHS Orbital Prosthetists love their jobs and as part of this exciting opportunity you will be given full 'in-house' training in specification, assessing, fitting and aftercare for NHS artificial eye wearers. This role is fixed term for 12 months and will be made permanent on successfully completing 'in-house' training as below.
An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to undertake the training to become an Orbital Prosthetist with the NHS National Artificial Eye Service (NAES). This highly skilled role involves the specification, assessment, fitting, and aftercare of artificial eyes for NHS patients throughout England. This post will be shared between your main base location in Stapleford, Nottingham, designated outreach clinics in the surrounding area and any location throughout England dependent on current service delivery needs.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be expected to undertake and successfully complete the comprehensive 'in-house' training provided by the NAES training team. This will be provided at various locations throughout England for the first 12 months.
Once trained, you will specify, assess, fit, and adjust artificial prostheses, and provide aftercare, to patients referred by Consultant Ophthalmologists and other NHS colleagues for the provision, treatment, and maintenance of artificial eyes.
