We have an opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our forward thinking community paediatric team based at Blenheim House Child Development Centre .
The successful applicant will take an active role in the clinical leadership of the service and whilst also holding a specialist paediatric caseload. The candidate will work as part of the multidisciplinary team at the child development centre.
Main duties of the job
This will include but is not exhaustive to:
- Supporting the delivery of an integrated approach to patient care across Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy for Blenheim Child Development Centre
- Providing high quality patient care including the family and wider support system such as nursery setting
- Taking responsibility for the equipment panel
- Managing the clinical performance of staff and provide clinical supervision
- Identifying and addressing areas of clinical development across the service.
- Managing complex issues in the care of patients such as complaints or safeguarding risks
- Supporting the well being of staff

JOB SUMMARY:
- To be responsible for provision of highly specialist assessment, treatment and management of children and young people, aged 0-19 years, who present with a wide variety of conditions; these will include chronic, complex, disabling and life limiting conditions.
- To demonstrate sound knowledge and skills in the management of paediatric neurological / developmental conditions, behavioural difficulties and learning difficulties.
- To educate and train other healthcare and multi-agency professionals and occupational therapy students in paediatric occupational therapy management.
- To take the lead in the occupational therapy management of complex paediatric cases within a multi disciplinary team setting, providing guidance and support to less senior members of the team in relation to all aspects of case management.
- To work in the community as a lone practitioner in line with the trust lone worker policy.
- To work within a variety of settings across the Trust including out-patient clinics, schools, specialist schools, early years settings and childs own home.
- To provide assessment for and provision of equipment and minor adaptations for children with complex needs within a community setting and to provide and support for other practitioners in this area of work.
- To work with the Team Leader to ensure efficient and effective operation of the paediatric occupational therapy service.
- To provide support, advice, guidance and information to children and young people, their parents / carers and professionals regarding occupational therapy management.
