Job summary

- Support the Clinical lead mammographer in the provision of an efficient, cost effective, diagnostic Breast imaging service, through effective management of staff, facilities, and innovative use of available resources.- Assist the Manager and fellow Mammographers to ensure optimisation of staffing and service provision.- Deputise for the Breast lead in their absence undertaking specific management responsibilities as delegated to the role by the Breast lead Manager or General X-ray Manager. - Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and will take a key leadership role within the department.- Demonstrate excellent clinical competence with in-depth knowledge and experience of a wide range of mammography examinations,

- Provide training and supervision of junior colleagues and provide advice and guidance utilising advanced knowledge and skills in this specialist area.

Main duties of the job

To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team providing an efficient and effective service to ourpatients/clients within the symptomatic breast unit.Must possess good interpersonal skills as the post-holder will have daily contact with patients and public &working relationships with a wide variety of staff, including all Breast Service personnel, medical staff, nurses,healthcare professionals, managers & support staff.Provide sound professional leadership to all staff within the area, working in close collaboration and cooperationwith other health care professionals.To undertake administrative duties as required.To perform assessment mammography and interventional radiography, assist where necessary with allinterventional procedures both in mammography and Ultrasound imaging, handling specimens whennecessary.
