Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a 7.5 hour Ward Clerk post on Ward 4 Clifton
We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills, is a team player and is able to work independently and who will provide day to day clerical management of the ward. Basic computer skills required and knowledge of the trusts current databases and computer systems would be an advantage. Full training and support will be given to the right candidate. Experience in a similar role dealing with members of the public is desirable.

Main duties of the job
- Assists the multi-disciplinary team in the giving and maintaining of high standards of service, in a timely, cost effective way.
- First point of contact for patient, visitors and staffs non clinical enquiries
- Ensures that patients' confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- In accordance with Trust policies, helps to ensure patients' safety, comfort and welfare.
Personal Service:
Receiving and making telephone calls, liaising with the nursing staff when appropriate.
- Telephone and face-to-face communication with patients, relatives and staff regarding a range of topics.
- Welcoming patients and relatives to the ward, introducing them to their environment, for example showing them to their bed space.
- Receiving and distributing mail to patients and staff, re-directing mail where appropriate
- Receives and relays relevant messages.
- Arranging & receiving visitors for patients and for the Ward.
- Liaising with the nurse in charge of the Ward to assist in timely transfers.
- Liaising with the bed management team.
- Liaises with the ambulance service in the booking of patient transport for transfers and discharges.
- Obtaining and ordering the patient's choice of meals in conjunction with the Ward staff
- Ordering of catering/stationary supplies for patients and staff
- Works and co-operates with all personnel who provide services e.g. catering, laundry, domestics, porters etc.
