Job summary
An exciting opportunity has come available for an experience nurse as a haematology nurse consultant. The Haematology team at Blackpool Teaching Hospital is a service that works across Blackpool and Preston and provides a tertiary service to Lancashire and South Cumbria. Intensive treatment of acute leukaemia and autologous stem cell transplantation is undertaken in Blackpool in out JACIE accredited unit for a wider population of 1.6 million people.
We are looking for an experience and proactive nurse consultant who will lead on the continuous development of the nursing service at Blackpool and Preston. The ACP team currently consists of 2 full time ACPs and 1 trainee ACP although there are plans for this to expand.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
- Have a highly visible clinical profile, providing both advisory and clinical input into patient care, spending a minimum of 50% of time in clinical practice. The post holder will have clinical responsible for a patient group within haematology services.
- Autonomously act and develop recognition for their expertise in the field of haematology management having developed specialist clinical knowledge.
- Ensure patient / client centred care and family and carer collaboration and where appropriate promote maintenance of health, wellbeing and independence.
- Apply advanced theoretical, evidence based and practical knowledge to the clinical care of patients presenting to the haematology service when delivering and shaping services.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to optimise clearly defined patient outcomes.
- Manage a defined caseload that will focus on haematology patient presentations: Receive referrals, assess, order, interpret and act upon investigative tests, consider differential diagnosis, evaluate, treat, plan, refer and discharge patients within the Trust.
- Provide leadership, guidance and exercise judgement in making challenging patient centred decisions within current best practice guidance, relevant legal frameworks and with clear understanding of the relevant professional and applied ethical frameworks.
