We have an exciting opportunity for a band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our highly skilled and motivated workforce on Cardiac Day Case Unit.
The Lancashire Cardiac Centre provides heart and lung treatment for the people of Lancashire, Cumbria and beyond in facilities designed with patient focus in mind.
The £52m centre, based in Blackpool, is one of the biggest developments that Victoria Hospital has seen in its history. We specialise in admitting and recovering patients for procedures such as
- Coronary Angiograms
- Coronary Angioplasty
- Electrophysiology Studies
- Atrial Fibrillation Ablation
- Cardioversions
- Pacemakers
- Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD)
- Transoesophageal Echocardiogram (TOE)
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI)
- Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) closure
- Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) closure

Main duties of the job
Cardiac day case unit is a busy cardiology day case unit. We treat up to 30 patients each day. We are also an escalation unit, nursing patients from other divisions in the trust. The main duties include taking charge of the unit from an elective and escalation perspective, this includes co-ordinating the flow into the labs and recovery of patients post procedure. The nurse in charge will oversee all patients throughout the patients journey.
