An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Breast Service at Blackpool Teaching Hospital as a Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Breast Team. This is a permanent part time position.As a CNS within the Breast Care team you will be providing support to patients and their families in their breast cancer pathway, providingphysical and emotional support, co-ordinate cancer services and advise patients on clinical issues to lead to positive outcomes.The role of the CNS is essential in providing an individualised cancer pathway, we are looking for a person who possesses the essential qualitiesof compassion and empathy, an excellent communicator, an individual who works well in a team, who has the enthusiasm to learn, develop theirown skills as well as develop the needs of the service.You will be joining an established CNS team who will provide guidance and support to you in your role whilst working alongside the rest of theMDT in the wider breast service. You will gain skills and knowledge to ensure breast cancer patients experience the best possible care andsupport. You will be instrumental in improving the quality of life of patients, assisting them with decisions, empowering them to self manage theircondition whilst providing emotional support and coordinating their care.
Main duties of the job
You will be an integral member of the Breast Care Team, supporting patients at diagnosis and throughout their cancer pathway. Supporting andco-ordinating the patients treatments,. Partake in regular MDT meetings and act as the patients advocate. You will provide wound care to patientsattending nurse led clinics, responding to patient calls to provide support and advice. You will work towards manging your own caseload ofpatients to ensure a seamless pathway. You will collaborate with other specialities such as oncology, District nurses, mental health teams as well as many other teams within primary and secondary care to ensure care is co-ordinated.
