Full time or Part time Locum Consultant Orthodontist - up to 10 PAs per week
Applications are invited for either full or part time Locum Consultant(s) in Orthodontics up to 1.0 WTE based at Blackpool Victoria Hospital as part of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Trust.
The successful applicant(s) will join a highly motivated team within the Head and Neck Directorate, including Maxillo-facial and Oral Surgery consultants, and be responsible for the management and treatment of orthodontic patients with the emphasis on multidisciplinary care to a population of approximately 330,000 in Blackpool Fylde & Wyre and adjacent areas.
Applicants must have GDC specialist registrationand the ISFE in orthodontics(or within 6 months of achieving this).
Main duties of the job
In this role you will have the opportunity to treat a varied range of cases with a focus on complex MDT treatments, including orthognathic and hypodontia. You will work in a regional multidisciplinary team with colleagues in Restorative Dentistry and other dental specialties, and will be expected to take an active role in service redesign and delivery as a member of the local Orthodontic MCN and the local Secondary CareOrthodontic Network, demonstrating a passion for improving patient services across the Lancashire and South Cumbria area. There is potential for the post toincorporate sessions at adjacent NHS Trusts as we work towards providing a regional Orthodontic service.

Essential
- Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC)
- On the GDC specialist list in Orthodontics
- Membership in Orthodontics or equivalent
- Possession of a Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for a CCST in Orthodontics
- Successful completion of an SAC approved two year minimum training programme in a Fixed Term Training Appointment (FTTA) in Orthodontics or within 6 months of completion of training, or equivalent which follows on from the pre-CCST training period of 3 years or equivalent
Desirable
- Fellowship in Dental Surgery or Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, or equivalent
- Intercollegiate Speciality Fellowship Examination in Orthodontics or equivalent
- Successful completion of an SAC approved three year minimum training programme in Orthodontics
Experience and Skills
