Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Trust is looking for Occupational Therapy apprentices. If you are excited to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy and want to learn and develop whilst working in an established, enthusiastic, and supportive team, then this opportunity could be ideal for you.
The starting salary of our Occupational Therapy Degree Apprentices will be at a Band 3. On completion of the agreed competency package apprentices will be eligible for a Band 4 salary. Eligibility will be reviewed at the time of enrolment onto the apprentice programme and at 6 month intervals until all competencies are complete.

Main duties of the job
This full-time job combines gaining 'on the job' experience whilst working in the multidisciplinary team and undertaking the Occupational Therapy Degree Apprenticeship Programme. No fees, and you earn while you learn. The course is delivered by Sheffield Hallam University at a North West satellite location.
This Degree has been designed to prepare you not only for an academic qualification, but also to become a qualified health professional.The honours degree programme extends over 3 academic years and involves face to face academic learning as well as on-the-job training. The degree uses the Institute for Apprenticeship's standard for Occupational Therapists and ensures that the knowledge, skills and behaviours are developed throughout all levels of the programme. Graduates from this programme are eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council and become qualified Occupational Therapists. Both the academic and practice-based components of the programme are integrated to reflect current practice, based on the best available evidence. The integration is facilitated by a problem-solving, student-centred approach to learning that is designed to equip you with the life-long learning skills necessary for the continued professional development required following graduation.

During the apprenticeship the post holder will perform all of the elements in this job description as a learner and under the direct and/or indirect supervision of a registered practitioner.
The post holder will contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of therapy programmes as part of the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will have the knowledge to interpret information and be skilled in taking appropriate action(s) to achieve the planned outcomes.
The post holder will be expected to practice in accordance with the Trust policies, guidelines, standards and statutory requirements, contribute to the maintenance of a safe clinical environment and operate within defined competency boundaries
The post holder will be proactive in seeking opportunities to develop their own knowledge and skills, achieving clinical competencies and a Degree (Level 6) qualification within agreed timeframes. They are also expected to seek support and guidance in a timely manner if any difficulties are encountered.
It is requirement that the post holder commits to undertake the formal education of the course and successfully complete all components of the training programme within the contract period.
