Job summary

Cardiology Research Fellow required to commence ASAP on a fixed term contract for 12 months.This is not an approved training position, however you will receive the following;o Named educational supervisoro Induction and bespoke new starter induction pack outlining internal training courses/opportunities available to doctors in these non-approved training positionsIndividual training plano NHS e-portfolio (Division will fund but needs to be in contract that it will be recovered if leave before agreed end of contract)o Appraisal at 6 months and individual access to e-appraisal systemo Support towards obtaining Alternative Certificate confirming achievement of competencies to aid those who want to access a recognised training position in the future.

Main duties of the job

The post is full time Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (no fixed on-call commitment). The post is time-tabled to include 50% of time working in Cardiology research and 50% of time undertaking clinical Cardiology duties at Registrar level (including cath lab, clinics, echo etc).

About us

The cardiology department is highly active and has and is participating in many landmark national and international commercial and non-commercial studies, from phase 2 to post marketing. Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHSFT has the second highest patient recruitment to cardiovascular studies in the NIHR North West Coast for 2016-17. We also undertake original funded research projects, some of which are adopted onto the NIHR portfolio, leading to potential first author publications.
