An exciting opportunity has arisen for inspirational and motivated Health Care Assistants to join one of our dedicated team on the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals.
The successful candidate will be supported by both our nursing and medical team and essential training for the role will be provided.
You must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of healthcare professionals and be enthusiastic and passionate about delivery of high quality care. As a health care assistant within theteam,your role will be assisting our patients with everyday tasks which involve maintaining a good oral intake, assisting with personal hygiene, and escorting patients to various procedures whilst also assisting both our medical and nursing teams deliver treatment.
The teams have patients which are referred from a variety of places including A&E, AMU, G.P and outpatient Clinics and are referred to the teams with a variety of health conditions, these can be Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Endocrine, Infectious diseases, Stroke and Cardiology. The unit also gives opportunity to care for the older person with complex health conditions. The team lends a fantastic place to learn and develop skills also to work alongside skilled health professionals who work within the multidisciplinary team
Main duties of the job
Health Care Assistant
Maintain high standards of nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and be personally responsible for your actions following the Trust's Policies and Procedures. Give and promote Health Promotion Education under the guidance of a Registered Nurse to the patient and carer in order to promote wellbeing and prevent further unnecessary hospital admissions. Ensure a high quality service is maintained by implementing Trust Clinical Governance Plans. Work as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team, and in conjunction with these other professionals promote a holistic model of care. Maintain accurate written and/or electronic records ensuring all legal requirements are met. Be prepared to work flexibly and to the needs of the service
