Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the dynamic team on the new Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), located within the Emergency Village. This is a purpose-built area set up to prevent unnecessary admissions and relieve the pressures of our busy Emergency Department. We cover all areas including medics, surgical, gynae, ENT and urology. We are looking for an enthusiastic and positive individual to help provide a high standard of care on our busy SDEC unit.
The ward clerk is a vital part of the team, booking in patients from the Emergency Department, NWAS or GP, answering the phone, talking to relatives, booking appointments/ transport, sending referrals, opening and closing clinics and other general ward clerk duties.

Job responsibilities
Undertakes clerical duties in relation to the admission/ transferring and discharge of patients.
Filing case notes and maintaining good upkeep on medical notes
Assisting the day to day maintenance of stock levels including ordering stock and none stock items
Arranging transport for patients on discharge.
Ensuring the admissions and returns book are kept up to date.
Inputting patients onto the system including speciality clinics and outpatient appointments.
Communicating and working with the wider team e.g Dr's, nurses and clinical assistants.
Reporting faulty equipment
