Job summary
The Radiology Directorate at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals are looking to recruit a Band 7 CT Clinical Lead Radiographer to our team. The ideal candidate for this role would be a highly skilled and experienced CT Radiographer with proven experience leading a clinical team. Competency performing CT colonography, cardiac CT and experience justifying and authorising CT referrals would also be advantageous.
This is a busy and rapidly expanding department with a fleet of Siemens and Canon CT scanners, including a state-of-the-art CT facility located directly in the Trust's new Emergency Village development.
The CT Clinical Lead reports directly to the CT Imaging manager and is responsible for the day to day running of the clinical workload. Candidates would be expected to work flexibly on a rotational shift pattern to include day shifts, long days and night shifts. You will be joining an enthusiastic and friendly team who provide a comprehensive CT service including, general CT examinations, CT Colonography, Interventional CT, and Cardiac CT.
We are a UKAS accredited department and are committed to continuous quality improvement. The CT lead will be expected to have a significant input into the quality and governance of the department, overseeing and completing audits, reviewing departmental documentation, and ensuring that training compliance is maintained.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is required to:
- Support the CT Imaging Manager in the provision of an efficient, cost effective, diagnostic CT imaging service, through effective management of staff, facilities and innovative use of available resources.- Assist the CT Imaging Manager and fellow CT Clinical Lead Radiographers to ensure optimisation of staffing and service provision.- Deputise for the CT Imaging Manager in their absence undertaking specific management responsibilities as delegated to the role by the CT Clinical Manager or Radiology Directorate Manager. - Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and will take a key leadership role within the CT department.- Demonstrate excellent clinical competence with in-depth knowledge and experience of a wide range of CT examinations, including contrast and non-contrast examinations, Interventional CT, Cardiac CT, Angiography and CT Colonography procedures.- Provide training and supervision of junior colleagues and provide advice and guidance utilising advanced knowledge and skills in this specialist area.
