An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the dynamic team on the new Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), located within the Emergency Village. This is a purpose-built area set up to prevent unnecessary admissions and relieve the pressures of our busy Emergency Department. We are looking for an enthusiastic and positive role model to help provide a high standard of care on our busy SDEC unit.
You will be responsible for seeing and treating medical, surgical, gynaecology, urology and ENT same day patients. Our aim will be to diagnose, treat and discharge our patients' home on the same day with appropriate follow ups as required
The Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) is a newly implemented service within Integrated Medicine and Patient Flow at Blackpool Teaching Hospital bringing together numerous specialities in order to improve patient flow, improve patient experience and prevent unnecessary admissions. The patients for SDEC can be referred via GP, walk in centers, Urgent Care Center, NWAS, 111 and other community based services, as well as suitable referrals from within the Emergency Department. Patients will be triaged, clerked and senior reviewed whilst treatment is commenced and further investigations and plans are put in place.
We recommend that all individuals employed in patient facing roles, or those located on a ward or department where patients receive a service should be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Main duties of the job
Maintain high standards of nursing care and be personally accountable for professional and ethical actions, within the N.M.C Professional Code of Conduct. Give and promote Health Promotion Education, particularly around the specific speciality to the patient and carer in order to promote wellbeing and prevent further unnecessary hospital admissions. Ensure a high quality service is maintained by implementing Trust Clinical Governance Plans. Works as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team, and in conjunction with these other professionals promote a holistic model of care. Maintain contemporaneous and accurate written and/or electronic records ensuring all legal requirements are met. Be prepared to work flexibly and to the needs of the service
Skills will be developed in delegation and time management due to continuing flow through the unit and ensuring patients are treated and then transferred or discharged so that the Unit and hospital is able to continue to function effectively.
