Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a positive and enthusiastic Senior Clinical Psychologist with an ability to deliver high quality psychological services to the service users and their families and carers of the Blackpool Community Integrated Learning Disability Service.
The post sits within a specialist psychology team within the Learning Disability Service. You would be supported to develop specialist skills and new and innovative interventions at an individual and group clinical level.
This is an exciting time to join the psychology team as senior professionals in the service are keen to develop and enhance the provision of a psychological model of care that will impact all service users and professionals working in the service.
At Blackpool Teaching Hospitals you would have opportunities to develop your professional capability by joining a welcoming team of psychologists working into multiple service areas across the Trust.

Main duties of the job
With clinical supervision the post holder would be expected to develop significant clinical expertise and experience applicable to the needs and challenges of people with learning disabilities and complex presentations.
To contribute to the strategic planning and delivery of a psychological model of care for service users with a learning disability. This will include supporting the work of the multidisciplinary teams within the service. Maintaining high levels of psychological interventions at a 1-1 and group clinical level and promoting psychological ways of working across the service to inform and underpin a cohesive approach to assessment, formulation and interventions at a service and organisational level. To work across organisational boundaries in order to ensure the delivery of co-ordinated psychological services for service users with learning disabilities and complex presentations.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
Desirable
- Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
- Accredited supervision qualification.
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Post-qualification experience of working as a clinical psychologist within the NHS.
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a range of care settings, including outpatient, community care and inpatient settings.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
- Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
- Experience of management and support to junior staff.
